On March 17, 2025, we launch our new position paper: “What time is it? It’s biodiversity time!”
At AF Advisors, we see biodiversity as an underrepresented yet essential sustainability theme. While climate change often dominates the agenda, the impact of biodiversity loss receives far less attention. This is striking, given that biodiversity loss has direct economic and societal consequences.
What does this mean for investors? AF Advisors advises the investment management industry at both strategic and operational levels. While sustainable investing is already a key focus, biodiversity still lacks a clear direction.
With this position paper, we challenge the industry to stop viewing biodiversity as an abstract issue and instead recognize it as a financially and socially urgent matter. We present 16 key statements on biodiversity-conscious investing—not just to share our vision, but to initiate a broader discussion. Financial institutions have both the opportunity and responsibility to counter biodiversity loss and protect ecosystems. This position paper marks the starting point for a dialogue with clients and industry partners. We do not have all the answers yet, but one thing is certain: it is time for action. This publication is the second in a series of position papers on sustainability challenges. Moving forward, we will continue to highlight and challenge key themes shaping the future of finance.
